Presentations at ICALEO 2008

Dr. Ki will be presenting two papers at the 27th International Congress on Applications of Lasers and Electro-Optics, which will be held from October 20-24, 2008 in Temecula, CA. The titles of his presentations are:

1) "Modeling of laser material processing" by H. Ki
2) "Lattice Boltzmann simulation of laser interaction with weakly ionized helium plasmas" by H. Li and H. Ki

I/UCRC awarded by NSF

The National Science Foundation has awarded a five-year grant to support the Industry/University Cooperative Research Center (I/UCRC) for Advanced Cutting Tool Technology at Michigan State University. The center has been launched in August 2008. Dr. P. Kwon is the PI and Drs. Ki and Feeny are Co-PIs. (More info at http://www.egr.msu.edu/actt) 

Huayu Li is now Dr. Huayu Li

Huayu Li has successfully finished his Ph.D. defense on October 2, 2008 and has earned a Ph.D. The title of his dissertation is Lattice Boltzmann Simulation of Laser Interaction with Weakly Ionized Plasmas. He will start his new career at Caterpillar in mid October.

After Fall 2008 semester, Dr. Ki will be moving to a university in his home country, South Korea. He has accepted a position as Associate Professor at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology.
